Coastline Credit Union has had an association with Futurestaff since December 2000 when we worked with Sandy McManus to recruit 4 new Trainees.
We have continued the association and have employed a total of 8 school leaver trainees in the last 8 years. The opportunities that have been given to these young people in our area are immeasurable. With high unemployment and few traineeships being offered locally the trainees where able to stay at home whilst working and completing their traineeships. Half our trainees have remained on our staff and the others have moved to major cities and continued their careers with financial institutions.
We are especially proud of one of our past trainees, Kylie Duncan. Kylie was employed by Coastline at the end of her traineeship and is now studying a Bachelor of Business Degree
(majoring in Accounting) through Southern Cross University. Kylie was recently appointed to the role of Finance Manager and is the youngest manager to be employed here at Coastline.
We have encouraged our existing staff to continue their studies and have fostered a desire amongst them to gain formal qualifications. Many of our staff have worked with us for a long time but have no formal qualifications and we have encouraged them to participate in the Existing Worker Traineeships offered by Futurestaff. In the past 12 months two staff have gained Cert III in Financial Services and are now enrolled in Cert IV in Financial Services. We have recently enrolled three more staff in Cert III in Financial Services and we are hopeful that similar numbers will enroll in this qualification in the coming years. The training opportunities at Coastline are available to staff at all levels and one senior manager has commenced her Diploma in Financial Services.
The support offered by Futurestaff to management and trainees has been second to none. The training materials are relevant to the Credit Union industry and our staff have had no trouble applying what they have learnt in their studies to their roles with Coastline. Distance has not been a problem either as the trainees have received regular visits and telephone support throughout their traineeships.
As an employer located in a regional area of NSW, Coastline has found the delivery of training by Futurestaff to be an excellent fit. We no longer have to send our staff away to the city for them to gain formal qualifications and they can complete their training modules whilst on the job.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Futurestaff as a training provider to other financial institutions.
